Glazed Ceramic Tile consists of two basic elements, clay and water. The pressed clay body is dried to reduce the moisture content. Next, the surface of the tile is coated with a colored glaze (similar to glass). The glaze is then permanently fused to the surface of the tile by firing it in kilns at approximately 2000° Fahrenheit, to form the finished product. With new technology in manufacturing techniques, today's ceramic tile designs are hard to tell apart from natural stone products.

It is also important to note the difference of breaking strength between Porcelain and Ceramic tile. How much weight can you put on the tile pieces before they break? Ceramic tile is usually 250 pounds per tile, while Porcelain tile is about 400 pounds per tile. As a result Ceramic tile is generally less expensive than Porcelain.  For more information and pricing on our ceramic tiles, please visit us or give us a call.
